Hire Period & Flexibility

How long can I hire a kitchen pod for?

Most customers hire for 2 weeks up to several months, depending on their project. Hire periods are flexible and can often be extended if your renovation overruns.

Can I extend my hire period?

Yes. Extensions are available, subject to availability. We recommend contacting us as early as possible to secure additional time.

What happens if my project finishes early?

You can contact us to arrange an early collection, subject to scheduling.

Delivery & Installation

Where can the kitchen pod be installed?

Pods can typically be installed on:

  • driveways
  • private parking areas
  • hard standing surfaces
  • gardens (with suitable access)

How much space is required?

You’ll generally need:

  • 5 metres in length
  • approximately 2.4 metres in width
  • clear access for delivery

Does the pod need to be on level ground?

Ideally yes, although slight slopes are often manageable.

Can the pod be installed on gravel?

Yes, provided the ground is stable and accessible.

Can the pod be placed on the road?

No, pods are usually required to be placed on private land.

How long does installation take?

Most installations take 1–3 hours, depending on site conditions.

Do I need to be present during delivery?

Yes. Someone must be present to approve positioning and complete handover.

Can I move the pod after installation?

No. Pods are positioned and stabilised by trained installers and must not be moved by the hirer.

Utilities & Connections

How does the pod connect to my property?

Kitchen pods typically connect to:

  • standard household electricity
  • an outside water tap
  • an existing drainage system

Do I need special electrical connections?

No. Most pods operate using standard domestic sockets.

What if I don’t have an outside tap?

Alternative solutions may be available depending on your setup.

How is waste water handled?

Waste water is usually connected directly into your existing drainage system.

Do I need gas?

Yes. One full gas canister is supplied at the start of your hire period. If you use up the supplied gas, you are responsible for obtaining any additional refills required during the hire period.
 
At the end of the hire period, you must return one full gas canister with the unit.

Yes. Pods are insulated and include electric heating for year-round use.

Planning & Regulations

Do I need planning permission?

In most cases, no. Kitchen pods are considered temporary structures when placed on private land.

You may need additional checks if:

  • your property is listed
  • you live in a conservation area
  • the pod is in place long-term
  • it needs to be installed on a public road

Will the pod damage my driveway?

Pods are designed to minimise impact using stabilisers and protective supports.

Insurance & Emergency Use

Will my insurance cover a kitchen pod?

Many home insurance policies will cover temporary kitchen hire under alternative accommodation or repair provisions.

Can you work with my insurer?

Yes, we can:

  • invoice insurers directly (where agreed)
  • support claims documentation

Do you provide emergency kitchen pods?

Yes. Pods are commonly used following:

Cleaning & Maintenance

Are the pods cleaned before delivery?

Yes. All units are fully cleaned and sanitised before installation.

What happens if something stops working?

Maintenance support and callouts are typically available during your hire.

Do I need to clean the pod before collection?

Yes. We ask that the pod is returned in a reasonable, tidy condition.
